HISTORY: The Cariñosa was the Philippines’ national dance until it was replaced with Tinikling. The Cariñosa originated from the Spanish colonial era. “Cariñosa” means “loving” in Spanish, as the dance is supposed to convey flirtation and courtship between a couple.
